Ground Conditions is an independent organisation supporting and coordinating agile, transdisciplinary research for action on the ecological polycrisis.
We see climate change as the late stage symptom of an identity crisis at the scale of humanity. In order to attend to this crisis, we first take pause to rethink the human relationship to nature, technology and work. Then, we orchestrate and support practical action to intervene in the systems, technologies and practices that organise society.
To enable this work we are building an institution that can enable a community capable of radical change.

Community: connect with our network of individuals and partner organisations in the Melbourne community space and through our broader planetary network.
Financial support: Subsidised access, research stipends, and an action funding pool to seed or fund projects incubated in our spaces
We encourage projects and practitioners who's work defies the existing categories that typically organise research; work which bridges the disciplines of technology and politics, science and art, which struggle to position themselves in existing funding and research environments.
As we stand face to face with planetary environmental threats, we proceed with optimism and caution; engaging all the tools at hand, all the unique combinations of thought and action, to find a new way.
